Since 2019, ARC East Midlands has been working to improve health and social care for people across our region by turning high-quality research into real-world impact.
Bringing together universities, the NHS, local authorities, community organisations and industry, we have built a strong record of applied research that makes a real difference.
Our work aligns with the three key shifts of the NHS: from hospital to community, from analogue to digital, and from sickness to prevention. Local diabetes screening initiatives, programmes supporting older adults at risk of falls and innovative digital tools for people living with long-term conditions are just some examples of how our projects improve outcomes, ease pressure on services and tackle health inequalities.
ARC East Midlands has achieved major impact across research, training and collaboration. The organisation has supported 60 PhD students and more than 30 postdoctoral fellows, as well as completing nearly 130 projects and publishing over 750 publications. ARC East Midlands has also forged more than 60 partnerships, hosted over 100 events, secured £15.5 million in funding and gained nationwide media coverage.
