Research methods play a crucial role in understanding multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs), as explored in the last episode of the first season of the Chronic Conversations podcast.

Featuring Professor Laura Gray, a leading expert in medical statistics at the University of Leicester and ARC East Midlands Theme Lead for Data2Health theme, the episode discusses the importance of robust research methods and the unique challenges faced in studying MLTCs.

She also emphasises the significance of patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in shaping research outcomes.

Additionally, Professor Gray leads the PPI-SMART group at the University of Leicester, which brings together statistical methodologists and public contributors to advance research in this area. 

The group develops resources aimed at enhancing the quality of PPIE in research while helping public contributors feel more confident in their support for this work.
