Equality in Research Matters

Access valuable resources through the "Equality in Research Matters" initiative, which is dedicated to promoting broader participation in healthcare research.

Overview

Launched in 2023 by the NIHR ARC East Midlands and The Centre for Ethnic Health Research (CEHR), this campaign aims to tackle the challenges of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in health and care research.

Inclusion in research is now a mandatory requirement set by the NIHR. As leading ARC for research on EDI of under-represented groups, our team has developed a toolkit to help colleagues across other ARCs to effectively implement these new guidelines.

Furthermore, training is offered through interactive workshops and webinars on EDI topics, equipping researchers with necessary skills to promote inclusivity.

The Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) Toolkit

EqIA toolkit cover

The EqIA Toolkit prioritises individuals facing disadvantages and under-representation in research settings. It's purpose is to demonstrate how research can positively impact all communities.

Training is also offered to enhance the skills of the research workforce. Online interactive workshops are designed for NIHR ARC researchers who need support with EqIA, providing tailored advice and opportunities to learn collaboratively.
