Hosted by NIHR ARC East Midlands — the priority area lead for multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs) — the event brought together more than 55 healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers for insightful discussions on advancing care and implementation strategies.
Delegates gained valuable insights from the key learnings of the four national projects led by different ARCs. These included:
- Evaluating implementation of a Framework for identification and tailored cardiovascular disease prevention intervention (UCLP-Primrose) for people with severe mental illness - ARC North Thames
- Personalised Primary Care for patients with MLTC - ARC West
- Optimising structured medication reviews: A real-time observational cohort study with integrated qualitative evaluation - ARC Oxford & Thames Valley
- Audit Based Education - bitesize, focussed, dashboard-based feedback, to implement NICE Do-Not-Do Recommendations in people with cardiometabolic comorbidities - ARC Oxford & Thames Valley.

The event was chaired by Professor Kamlesh Khunti, Director of NIHR ARC East Midlands and Lead for the MLTC National Priority Area and featured interactive workshops on key topics such as PPIE, collaborations, knowledge mobilisation and the NHS 10-year plan.
A highlight of the event was a keynote address by Natalie Owen, Head of NIHR Research Infrastructure at the Department of Health and Social Care, who shared valuable insights into the future of healthcare research and implementation.
