Her research explored how COVID-19 affected people living with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs).
Drawing on data from over four million patients across 51 countries, and primary care data from England, she found that people with MLTCs faced higher risks of poor outcomes from COVID-19 and used healthcare services more than others, despite widespread disruptions during the pandemic.
A survey of people living with long-term conditions in UK also suggested that telemedicine could improve access to routine healthcare for this group, provided digital inequalities are addressed.
Reflecting on her journey, Dr Salisu-Olatunji said: "Getting a PhD as a mature student definitely had its challenges and navigating this academic journey was a lesson in resilience and growth.
“I am grateful for the support of my colleagues, my wonderful supervisors, and the Doctoral College for this wholesome learning experience."
