The film, titled "NIHR - Collaborating to make a difference”, opens with Professor Marian Knight, the Scientific Director for NIHR infrastructure, who emphasises that collaboration is essential for research to make a meaningful impact.

This collaborative effort is important for both advancing scientific knowledge and improving patient outcomes.

Professor Khunti highlights the importance of bringing together varied perspectives and approaches in research. He said: “What collaboration does is brings the diversity of researchers, the diversity of methodologies, the diversity of thinking.

“It used to take 17 years to get from research findings to implementation. We now want to get them much earlier and get into research findings to implementation within three to five years.”

He added: “Collaboration is bringing all the infrastructures together so that we can identify solutions that may not be identified using the traditional approach of working in singular infrastructures.”

The NIHR infrastructure brings together world-leading facilities and expertise, creating opportunities for partnerships that drive meaningful research and interventions.
