East Midlands paramedic sets up research network

Professionals are being invited to join a new research network for paramedics.

Paramedic PhD has been launched for those undertaking, or who have completed, a doctorate in the field of pre-hospital emergency care or paramedic practice.

Founder Gregory Whitley, who works for East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: “I would like it to be used in the future for facilitating collaborations and identifying potential supervisors as more and more new doctoratoral candidates come through.

“It’s an international registry with two registers, one for paramedics and the other for anyone else (nurses, EMTs, doctors and non-clinical healthcare researchers). The registry is for any of the above who are undertaking or have completed a doctorate in the field of pre-hospital emergency care or paramedic practice.”

So far more than 70 people have registered from up to 13 different countries.
